We have seen that even after the PD being current, there have been many people whose cases have not been approved. We saw last year in July many cases with later priority date and later receipt dates were approved and people with earlier PD and earlier Receipt dates still waiting,
Now with the 180 day rule for FBI name check, things could be expected to be little better, but we have to remember that since most of the cases are paper based, some one has to physically get to cases from a huge storage, sort it manually, distribute it manually and get it adjudicated.
So even if the visa number is current, just beacuse the number of applications are so high that we still cannot say for sure whose cases are going to be approved.
From www.immigration-information.com, it appears, the biggest factor in getting the GC visa number allocated to a case is, having a case ready to be adjudicated and in the hands of an immigration officer at a time, when both processing date and priority dates are current. It appears that even after the huge retrogression, there were not enough demand for AOS based approvals, so they had to PD current to allow CP based cases to use the visas and ensure they are not wasted. I like the fact that visa were at least not wasted, but I would have loved to see applicants who have been waiting for years to have a first opportunity to that visa, specially because they have done everything that any one could do.
I have been pro-fee increase by USCIS, only provided that they will use this money to expedite the processing, make things eletronic, make things more transparent, and to be honest, I feel the overall improvements are happening. Though I still see a lot of scope for futher improvements.
We have clearly seen that labor processing has been improved dramatically with PERM. Now waiting for years to get Labor is almost history. I hope that IV and all its members direct its efforts towards ensuring that we see the improvements in efficiency that we expected to happen with fee increases.
Lets unite together to work for a system which is fair and efficient for everyone. Lets contribute to IV administrative fixes and any other efforts which will ensure a higher efficiency and better utilization of visa numbers for AOS applications.

Hello,
If your parents have bad health, then its a risky trip anyways .. but if they are in a reasonable health, then most insurance plans (except the super cheap ones) should be fine to cover any emergencies .... I have used k v rao insurance couple of times (but never had to make a claim) ...
There are always bad stories about claim process, but that is just the nature of Insurance industry (had such experiences with my employer insurance as well ... despite it being a Fortune100 company with generous benefits)... so choose your poison! :)

Nowhere in the posts have I disputed the credentials of those who work @ IV. Only expressed disappointment at the nature of the responses received. If credentials were in Q, it would be pointless raising any Qs at all. Qs are only asked of whom you trust to give a reliable answer. While the Core and indeed the Donors are dedicated and smart, many members here are as interested in following the progress being made by IV and yes smart enough to understand that every organisation has strategies which it may not wish to reveal � the Qs here are not about strategy, they are about updated information and increased awareness amongst those IV calls its base. If a free and open discussion about this is only to be cut short by a member being told pay or not be curious, then this is not really a public forum and this needs to be clarified at the very start.
Of course IV can continue to get rid of people it does not like raising Qs by putting them down, but this is not the greatest public relations exercise - especially with the population the group seeks to serve. This world is not a one size fits all and - there will always be people who pop into a forum for the occasional Query - if we answered them nicely, updated them on progress, they may themselves consider this a worthy cause, donate, update their profile and contribute as best as they can. Alternatively they may never become donors, but will at least ensourage others to visit IV, become members, and support the cause. But if we ask them to fulfil multiple conditions before showing empathy, we lose them forever. My personal hope is that IV will succeed in what it aims to achieve, though it would never be by itself - many other orgnisations supporting legal immigration will be part of any victory should it be achieved.

I thought people came here for economic reasons(mostly), now it looks like we cannot afford good property inn India and are not going back.

Just curious. Why do you claim ROW is receiving preferential treatment over India when all the countries get the same upper limit of the visas. Now if the Indians ask for more visas just because there are more Indians asking for green cards, wouldn't that be preferential treatment? :)
Quota system treats everybody anything but "equal". And this is not just the question of equality, because I am sure you agree that we are equals. It is the question of PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT. You are in the category getting preferential treatment, so you oppose any change, you "create" arguements that you were "promised" a system when you came, and thus any change to the system, before you get your green card would be WRONG and UNFAIR. So you should continue to get that PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT. And PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT to you is NOT WRONG AND UNFAIR. Right?
BTW, hope you liked the You tube video, Frank is really good. I do not want you to go, so that's why I posted the video. Hope it helped you to stick around. Now don't say you have the right to watch it 5 times and I can watch it only once because I am from India and you are ROW :D

When I called my attorney a couple days back, he asked me why I was in such a rush..... I would love to see him wait for 13 years for something. Coincidentally, I was told the same thing by the IO this morning...."give it some time, we responded to your inquiry, it will take 60 days. call us after November 15th "".

I support this idea to have a funding drive to help Aman recover his financial losses. We can never thank enough for the time and effort that was put in. Its a pain we need to share. Celebrating and saying thanks to IV is nice. But contribution is only way to say thanks. Think about it if we had to file with new filing fee, we would have paid 3 times what we paid now. Its amazing and we are fortunate to have people like Aman, logiclife and other IV core have such selfless and sacrificing nature.

I have sent money using icicibank's M2I service . Usually they take 5 working days to remit the money(atleast 8 days to transfer). I made four transactions last week(mon, tue, wed, thu) and they already remitted the money using low conversion rate.
It just took less than three days to remit the money this time. Bank deliberately did this just to steal money from me. I have lost more than 35 paise per dollar and it comes close to Rs 10,000. This is ridiculous and its a big robbery.
How do i get my money back? How do i make a compliant about this bank? They have no one to assist me over the phone.
What to do now?. Rs 10,000 may look too small for us. But how can we let banks to act like a criminals.
Any help/suggestion/comment?

Guys we have called all theree sets of lawmakers. Some senior member was saying we need to lobby hard with Republican's. Please let us know how we can do that. It is better to do it in an organized manner, so if some one can filter the three list on republicans we need to call again or if they can post a list of new republicans that we need to call. As of now there are more than 8000 views for this thread. If we just take that each of us might have visited this thread 50 times.. .That would still take us to 180 odd unique visitors...

If IV can outline how it is going to help, that would really make many people come out of the shelves. However, though we talk so much, people are still scared to identify themselves against the employer. However, they may be ready to outline everything against the specific employer as an anonymous person. we got to deal with a situation where people are ready but anonymously. How can we handle this.
A problem very similar to marriage breakups. People do not want to deal with the aftermaths of a breakup but willing to put up with crap from spouse.
GC being tied to employer has created all this situation.
If people are coming forward to complain - IV can help interace with auhorities, media etc..... COntact IV with specific issues.
