You cannot expect to report the crime/video to the cops without any repercussions for yourself. It is a federal felony to hire a foreigner without employment authorization (even if the person is not an illegal immigrant) - this means, if you are convicted, you can end up in prison, lose your property, pay fines and of course you will be deported. If you have been paying them and did not disclose this to the IRS, both you and they are liable for tax fraud, in addition. This is very serious. You should hire a lawyer if you want to deal with them legally.

The Receipt date is the date when they actually receive our case in a Service Center. Notice date is when it got entered into the system. I-485 Notice shows both the RD and ND. RD should be August 17 for most of us, whose cases were transferred to various Service Centers. Online status shows the ND. The only confusion here is what do they go by(may be USCIS it self not sure how to prioritize - whether on ND or RD).
Strictly speaking, if they go by ND and if the ND is after Aug-17 we may not be eligible for GC, as our(July/Aug 07 batch) cut-off dates is august-17-2007. This is what I was told by DAO when I attended the interview at the local USCIS office.

Yes, that would suffice as a name change in the passport. My situation was as follows.
Passport:
Surname: Y**** Z****
Given name: X****
I requested for an observation from SFO consulate and got it corrected to the following format.

I got this done through mail and these were the documents required

Someone gave me a "red" with totally unjustified reason. Initially I was upset - and I complained about it - found that he gave me more reds with similar comment from multiple userids (because one userid can't give multiple green/red to the same post). And this guy is doing at weird times ..like 5 in the morning (so psyco is the right description ... now I am sure he is going to given couple of reds to me :D )
After rethinking - now I don't care much about reds - someone is just pissed off, jealous or having fun ... red might make us (and our posts) look less reliable ... however I decided to keep my blood-pressure low and psyco's high :D ..so go ahead psyco - add more reds !!

yep..very few care about EB, its all EB2 these days, one of the reasons i am very close to giving up, difficult to convince people these days. I am guessing that most EB3 I's have simply given up or have been bulldozed aside. We know for a fact that there are thousands in a similar situation, but they dont seem/want or care to voice their opinions.
I see that the above discussion keeps on going on about EB-2 only. Doesn't anyone at IV care about EB-3 I also . I am sure there are a few EB-3 I people at IV who are suffering from retrogression , myself included.

I think Rajiv Khanna once sued INS to make sure the I485's are approved 'First In & First Out' basis.
I am not sure if we can approach him again and how.

We have been fooled so many times in the past with the predictions of the visa allocation being over etc. I would take this with a grain of salt.
