Guys,
with the measures that listed in the bill , i am sure it is going to face same fate as it had before in 07 .I read some where that this bill did not gain support as Oracle is against it .
This bill is against practices that is done mainly by Indian Outsourcing companies, as will impact all the american organizations in longer run (if a company outsource its operations ,they need to have a Permanent local hire to shadow the resource).
But even in the worst case even if bill gets tabled ,it will not gain support in the current form .
But IV Stand is Correct on this issue , not to support this bill as it may hamper our immigrant interest in longer run.

If USCIS decides to use the postmarked date as the filing date then it would be trickier for those whose PD was not current in June but have "filed" on June 29/30.
USCIS doesn't use postmark date. Don't sperad incorrect info and don't make other members anxious needlessly.
July 2nd filers are fine. Don't worry. Just wait for your receipt notices. We have been through a lot of stress in last month and its time to relax now (for those who already filed).

He is not talking about Indians, rather he talks about H1b in general. Since India does not have equivalent social security system, US Govt and Indian Govt did not sign any contracts. Other countries like Canada / UK / AUS have mutual agreement between them and US for transferring the social security paid in US to be transferred to their home country if the alien returns to the home country.
Even Indian Govt (P.Chidambaram) I beleive is working with US Govt to get these SS paid by Indians who have returned back to India. Since the US system and Indian system does not allow with the current rules and regulations to transfer the amount, it is stalled. may be down the line even India would work with US to get these amounts back.

bringing bk the discussion to more serious point. We can all agree that on the surface immigration system here is seems unfair towards Indian, Chinese and Mexicans. Whats the reason behind it? why only three countries which suffers from long waits. Its demand and supply. If there were no country caps, all the visa's will be absorbed by these three countries. Even though it has cost me time and money, i think its the right policy. for a moment imagine there was no country limit, can you imagine for few years to come immigration will be from only these three countries. i think its only fair to limit how many people can come from one specific country.
and one more point, we are never going to get treated with respect and equality, just get used to it. every American knows we left our country to come to his. he is always gonna look down upon us. Immigrants are never treated with love, respect and dignity, no matter which country they go to. Case in point, Bangladeshi and Nepali migrant workers in India. Ok, I will give you a weak analogy. See how Indian IPOs distribute shares when it is oversubscribed. The same thing goes here. Replace money by applicants and replace investors by countries, and you will get a sense as to why per country quota is implemented. I agree it is hard to digest the per country quota, but it is what it is. It is affirmative action if you will. I totally support reform in the H1 process with a target to reduce fraud. That will ultimately benefit people like us who will come here on H1B in future.

It is much bigger than rally. You will get more attention and you do not need thousand people to do it. If we can have even a handful of people or even one person to do it, it will be great. The expenses and preparation to do hunger strike will be very less.
I doubt anyone will want to go hungry for a greencard. People say a lot of things but they do not do it. All these people talking for a rally will not even show up for a rally when it is held. They are too scared to come out and show their faces to the media.

Looking at your RD reminds me of a friend of mine who has a I-485 RD of Dec 2004, but he is in EB3. Unfortunately his NameCheck was not clear even in the July 2007 fiasco, the reason he is still not green !
He and his wife recently sold their house and everything else and left their jobs and moved back to India! Enjoying themselves there while their I-485 application papers turn yellow !

I do not mean to be negative, but this immigration debacle does not seem to end. How long do we have to freaking endure this nightmare?
