You're right. No offence but no authority seems to be listening to IV suggestions. I agree that people at IV are doing great job, but the problem is nobody is listening. They just don't care. And this think will go on & on. I remember s'body suggesting hunger strike and at that point of time I thought that won't work. But now it seems we have to go extreme and do hunger strike and stuff to pressurize this crappy system.
EB3 people don't think I am being selfish here. The truth is we have to work unitely and pressurize for visa recapture. That will be beneficial for e'body.

Juist to prove the original posters point about IV being intolerant about different points of view and the trigger happy attitude of some members about giving a red dots just because someone else speaks his point of view - I got a very personal and abusive remark with a red dot just for my post above. Not that I really care about Red or Green dots. My GC journey is over. This forum helped me a great deal when I was waiting for my GC. Now I am hear to help others with what I know in their GC pursuit and help with any on going action items. Just wish some members here would grow up and learn to live and let live! :)

400k is the unused visas from both FB and EB. Don't know the breakup though.
The number 400,000 (total unused from family based and employment based) in Mrs. GILLIBRAND's website is an estimate as clearly mentioned in the website itself. During last year's recapture bill discussion season, the unused number many calculated and conlcuded was somewhere between 200K to 225K for employment based category.
The bill S.1085 doesn't speak of any specific number of visas to be recaptured. It says that, recapture all (unused visas from 1992 through 2007 + unused from previous fiscal year (2008)) and add it to the current fiscal year.
So, the total should be somewhere between 200K and 225K (or more).

There is not much we can do. From Greg's yesterday's latest response that there were very few which were returned/rejected on July 2nd itself and this thread proves that we are not alone ...there are so many and status is unknown. Matthew Oh is also suggesting that it will be receipted. I think we are all safe and with time we will get receipt. Nobody...none of the attorney's are suggesting refiling. Now the thought that whether my packet was properly filed or not? I think that will always be there in the back of one's mind but if the attorney has done his/her job correctly I think we should not worry. Its not rocket science and documents required for filing are well known...so I would discount this risk. It appears we are all safe because as we all know that no rejection notices have been generated, packets if returned should have come back by now as per Greg....All in all it all points towards our packets being on hold there at respective centers....but as you rightly pointed out..towards the last week of July keep calling centers to know..but even before that keep eye on check clearing as that by far is the best and earliest clue that all is well with the case.

I am not sure how can one call it "absurdity" if 200 calls spread over 12 lawmakers got 2 law makers from the CHC co sponsor all three bills. ?
Digital signatures might help every IV member sign it off with out moving an inch. Web faxes and Digital signatures are NOT what we need. been there, done that and we know how it works.
I am not sure how the OP concluded that we are calling haphazardly. A lot of State chapters are talking with their rep's offices to get co sponsorship. If that's some thing of interest to you, work with your state chapter to see what they are doing in the chapter. I hope the OP would not say that calling a representative's office is haphazard.

Lets not support this bill guys. The right way to stop mis-use of H1 or L1 by companies is to make it a free market for the "employees" in visa. Let them be able to work for "any employer". Do you think the L1 guy will let him be abused, if he was allowed to change employers easily. Lets not close the doors for others, lets have an open mind to for competition and equal human treatment. Also lets see what is best for USA.
Putting more restrictions on employer is never effective. Abusing employers will always find the loopholes, and the legitimate employers will be scared away. The effective way is to get the "visa employees" more freedom.

I am going for chennai H1B visa on Feb 6....F1 to OPT to H1B...Scared to helll...
I appeared for an interview on Jan 2nd. It took the consulate officers 16 days to call me and ask for original documents again. Darn PIMS verification! I resubmitted the documents on Jan 22nd through the drop box... and have been calling them daily to track the progress. They say they need 7 working days from the day the documents are received. I have already had to reschedule the flights once..and my employer is getting worried now. If I had known about the delays at Chennai post before, I wont have applied here. Chennai sux!!!

It took me around 4 years. EB2 India, started as a scientist later physician and endless headaches ...... but its over now. Got my card yesterday. Its an amazing stress relief and confidence booster.
I could have tried EB1 too but wasnt sure how it would turn out hence stuck to EB2.

Since I joined IV this thing defintely changed...& I feel that I am attached to a community trying to achieve a common goal and common good. I have seen so many in this forum spits on L1. This is really bad, we all belong to one family and one kind.
If some one thinks L1 is more advantagous why don't those people join TCS or some thing...
Well let me put some of the Disadv.
1. On L1 one canot change the job. If you want to change the employer you should have H1B
2. L1B salaries are 20% less than H1B on AVG
3. If employer want to send you back (For any silly stupid reason) you are gone
4. Most of the companies like TCS, INFOSYS, WIPRO won't file green cards for 99.99% people
5. On avg a L1 person stays in US in a trip for 1 - 2 years.
Now think!
And above all as I said all those L1 are living in this country legally like me and you, living a painful uncertain life. Because the time is bad now we can't blame them.
Some one talking about getting laid off with TCS employee. just recapture the 5 or 8 years back when you replaced a AMERICAN CITIZEN and you can't call people as idiots ... its street clear.
Well some of you may not agree with me, but if you want to respond harhly just visit any L1B guys house some how they are living.
Unite, Fight! Don't fall for same old british divide and rule tricks.

One of the option is when previous employer revoked the H1B then you can see the status as reopen.
