I do not mean to be negative, but this immigration debacle does not seem to end. How long do we have to freaking endure this nightmare? IV has been trying for months now...When do you think we will have immigration relief? Are we just going to end up being like thirsty deers in a desert chasing a mirage in search for water?
Are there any astrologers in the forum? Does any astrologer see the retrogression ending soon?

CIR will come through. We just have to be patient and keeping pushing for our demands. The whole country acknowledges that immigration system needs to be fixed. I'm sure something good will come out of all the efforts.

Just a note( i am not trying to deter anybody or argue against your compilation) that by law all foreigners are required to carry their passport, how many of us follow that, on that note, I will not carry original with me at all. just my 0.02 cents.

True, we do not carry passports every time we step out of our house (for example, when going to pick up Bud Lite from my neighboring grocery store). But I would think that passports, unlike the PR card, are not designed to be tucked into your wallet for carrying around. Since Visa numbers trickle down, the more visa numbers there are available, the more will trickle down to countries with high demand... recapturing visa numbers might be easier than taking a poke at per country limit.. IMHO...
I am thinking about future generations as well.
1) Remove per country cap.
2) Remove dependant number count
Recapture of visas is good but its only 1 time thing. Unless its automatic recapture by law.

Finally I am a US citizen after being 10+ years in this country. This is one of my biggest fulfillments and it means everything to me. US is just not home anymore for me, it is my country.

On a side note, It appears that false propaganda is being spread about our taxes and SS contributions we make to raise more anti feelings about us.
To the contrary we contribute to the SS coffers without making use of it. We need to counter this.

From the article it seems Tancredo gives wrong information about H1b. Generally CNN is not responsible for any other person is giving wrong information in the interviews unless CNN accepts the information. Daily they are interviewing many people including Politicians and there is lot of chance for wrong information. Many persons gave wrong information about Iraq in CNN but CNN could not be responsible for that. If Lou Dobbs gives/accepts wrong information then we can complain about him in CNN. So if action needs to be taken we need to protest Tancredo for his comments.

can u provide a link. This rule is bad for AILA because of the loss of revenue and hence they were against it. But since this is in the "Final Rule Making" process there's not much they can do. BTW u don't need to have the I140 approved for the LC sub to go thru. U just need the labor substitution approved stamp before the rule gets published.

I did a quick search and did not find answer to this. Apologise if this is a repost.
But a co-worker of mine wants to travel on AP. After coming back, he will join my company (right now he is a contractor) as a perm employee on H1. Is it possible and allowed? Can he transfer H1 after using AP?
Our company attorney confirmed that his H1B will remain valid even after using AP. But she is not sure about transfer. I will post her reply once she gets back to him. But in meantime, if anyone has any idea about this, please share.

if a background check reveals that you had been on H-1 you won't be eligible for Z visa. You have to come up with a new face, new name, and new ID. Looks daunting but less daunting than getting GC legally.
I totally agree. They want to issue visas to all of them in a year... They will have more RFEs for legals than illgeal so people should work towards their temporary permnanent residency that is Z

If you treat the forums as your workplace then it will be better for all of us. No discussions on politics and religion. Period. One way could be to draft a letter in reply with the following points:
1. Definition of "pending" applications in USCIS lexicon
2. Breakup by year
3. Are these 485 applications only
4. Cna we get a similar breakup for the currently retrogressed major countries (India, China, Phillipines, etc)
Additionally, it might also be helpful to request the Senator to get some information from the Department of State with respect to how many applications are "pending" with them for consular processing, since they also come in the same pool of available visas.

He contacted his senator to get the total number of pending EB apps for India.

As far as the fund drive is concerned I disagree that without the VB we would have not reached our goal We over 22.5K in 6 days. The VB provided a push but I am sure we could have collected the remaining 7.5K in 24 days.

1. Free for all (an immigration help site)
Should contain:
Information that are helpful for others. (Similar to what IV forum does today)
Should not contain:
Any information about our activities or agendas.
2. A private registered member only site.
Members of different state chapters should be members of this site. Users cannot register themselves on this site. Only state chapter leaders can enroll members.
Should contain:
Information about our activities, agendas, fund drive etc. Members can freely voice their opinions without unwanted visitors ( anti-immigrants ) viewing them.
This would drive up the state chapter enrollment, meanwhile IV will still be a popular site for people seeking help.

I bought Patriot America by img global for my parents. We had to take my mother to ER. The total claim was close to 10k and to my surprise imgglobal did pay exactly as whatever it said. It is not a pre existing condition. Based on my research, nobody covers a pre existing condition.
The advantage of using the american, comprehensive policy is, the hospital took the insurance card, no questions asked. Send me a PM if you want more details as it was really painful in the first place to go to ER, let alone worry about insurance.
